The Caffeine application is designed to directly hook into the game, showing overlays on either side of the screen. If Caffeine is unable to detect a game, OBS Studio with Caffeine offers a workaround through integration. Therefore, no stream keys are needed. The following instructions demonstrate how one would setup OBS with Caffeine.

Before You Install OBS Studio with Caffeine
If you already use OBS, OBS Studio with Caffeine will replace the current version of OBS on your computer. We recommend backing up your current OBS profile before installing OBS Studio with Caffeine. This will save all of your preset sources and scenes -- making it simple to revert to an old version of OBS. To do this:
  • Open OBS.
  • Go to Profile > Export, and save it to a desired location on your computer.
  • The default profile name is Untitled.
  • You can use Profile > Rename to give it a new name before exporting.
  • Remember where you saved this file. You may need this later in the installation process.

Things to Know When Opening OBS Studio with Caffeine

If you have used OBS before, OBS Studio with Caffeine will load your existing scenes and sources

In the unlikely event that OBS Studio with Caffeine does not load your previous settings, don’t worry. You can use the Profile you saved earlier to get up and running.

Go to Profile > Import.

You will need to enter your Caffeine credentials to broadcast on Caffeine.
Select Caffeine.tv from the list of services
Sign into Caffeine

After you are signed in and the settings window is closed, a new Caffeine window will appear. This can be docked inside the OBS Studio window and allows you to change the broadcast title/rating, and to open your broadcast in a web browser.
If you’re using OBS software for the first time, you will need to set up scenes and sources.

Optimal FPS and resolution settings for OBS when used in conjunction with Caffeine:

• 30 FPS, 960x540 Output resolution

• 24 FPS, 1280x720 Output resolution

Having your output FPS be an integer multiple/division of the game's frame rate will have the best results. In general for streaming you always want to use Vsync, both to keep the frame rate stable, and to keep GPU resources available for OBS's capture, rendering, encoding, etc
